Just about when I thought I got everything out of Gmail, I discovered my top favorite feature. Let’s say that your email address is ‘GeorgeBush@gmail.com’, basically everything sent to any of the following email addresses will be forwarded to your primary email.

Additionally, I just also found out that you can embed random text to your email ID using ‘+’ sign. That is to say ‘GeorgeBush+anythingyouwant@gmail.com’ can be used as your email address, as well.

Introducing Gmail Labs

Gmail Labs is a way for us to take lots of the ideas we wouldn't normally pick and let you all (who use Gmail) decide whether they're good or not. When you sign in, you'll see a new page in Settings called Labs. It has a list of experimental new features, and you can enable or disable each one. Some of the popular ones will become core parts of the product, and we'll eventually retire the ones that don't get much use. Getting Gmail anywhere: IMAP versus POP

If you access Gmail via a phone or email client using POP, you may be frustrated by the fact that any action you take, such as reading, sorting or deleting, doesn't sync with your Gmail account. You may have read and sorted all your new mail on your phone, for example, but when you log back in to Gmail using a browser, you're presented with a full inbox of unread messages that you have to re-read and re-organize. What you may not realize is that you have another option that solves these problems: IMAP.

I have tried to come up with an exact clone for gmail attachment.

This is achieved by using an iframe which contains your server side script responsible for handling uploads. As soon as the user select a file to upload, the upload form gets submitted to upload.php, which lies in an iframe. Hence at no point does the user leaves the page and still he gets his file uploaded. Find attached below all the files you need to implement this on your server. Just unzip the file on your server, and you are ready. All the uploaded files will go in th upload folder by default. You may change that in upload.php.

Tips for importing old email to Gmail

When I switched to Gmail more than a year ago, I still had a significant amount of old email stored with my old address. Because I keep messages for a long time and like to frequently search them, I wanted to move my old email to Gmail so it would all be in one place and I could access it on any device, including my mobile phone.

In the end, the move went smoothly, but I picked up a couple of tips along the way that I thought were worth sharing.

Download messages from other Email Accounts

You guys can download messages from other Email Accounts using Gmail's Mail Fetcher (It has got restrictions up to only five other Email Accounts). Setting up Mail Fetcher is Easy as well as free to use, but for this to happen your email accounts must support POP.

All Gmail Users Are Given Two Separate Email Addresses

You probably know how to create multiple email aliases in Gmail by adding the plus symbol and dots to your Gmail username but there’s something more interesting.

When you create a Gmail account, you actually get two email addresses - one is the regular @gmail.com while the second email address has @googlemail.com in the domain.

That means if your email address in Gmail is something like billgates@gmail.com, all email messages that are sent to billgates@googlemail.com will also be delivered to your own Gmail account. That’s two for the price of one.

Like the Gmail plus trick, you can take advantage of these two domains so that less spam reaches your Gmail Inbox.

Using GPG with Gmail to Become an Ubuntero

Encrypting and signing email has its advantages. Linux has one of the best digital encrypter/signer. It's called GPG (Gnu Privacy Guard) and is solely text based, though like apt-get, there are front-ends which aren't entirely necessary (including SeaHorse). GPG can be used to encrypt files, emails, and text. It can also be used to sign documents, that is to show that the email, document, file, or whatever did actually originate from yourself and was not tampered with before the recipient received it. How does that sound?
