IPv6 Basics
Internet Protocol version 6, known as IPv6, is an upgrade to the world's most common network addressing scheme, Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4). The purpose of this post is to provide you with some background information on IPv6 and some simple things that you can do to get acquainted with it.

IPv4 Address Crunch In 2 Years, IPv6 Not Ready
We've known for ages that IPv4 was going to run out of addresses — now, it's happening. IPv6 was going to save us — it isn't. The upcoming crisis will hit, perhaps as soon as 2010, but nobody can agree on what to do.

IETF moves against IPv6 threat
Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) engineers, reacting with unusual speed, have moved to address a serious security lapse in IPv6 before it becomes too widespread.
The bug, involving Type 0 Routing Headers, could allow attackers to greatly magnify the effectiveness of denial-of-service attacks, and was highlighted at a presentation at the CanSecWest security conference earlier this month. It is in fact the reappearance of an old problem that was eliminated from the current IPv4 system long ago.
